Zhivoy, of Columbia, died peacefully, Thursday, April 29, 2021. His breed was Borzoi - The breed of Russian Nobility. This breed goes back to 1600 and their purpose was hunting wolf, fox and hare.

I have told this story so many times, but I try to do a short version. I was looking for another Borzoi. I had passed on Zhivory, the first time since his breeder and then owner wanted him to go to a show and performance home. I was not interested in doing either one. After returning form an out o town event, I opened my laptop and there was that beautiful red dog again, with the caption "Still looking for a show and performance home". I just knew it was meant to be.

First dog show in Atlanta, he was best of Breed three days in a row and I was hooked. He became a Grand Champion. We started amateur racing and he earned many titles. He was the #1 oval racing Borzoi in the USA for 3 years. He also has a straight racing and lure coursing title. He was the 1`st Borzoi to have an AKC BCAT title, with a time of 34mph. The big adventure was open field hunt out west. He is only the 2nd Borzoi from the east side of the USA to win the Borzioi Fall Classic - a really big accomplishment.

In the last few years, Zhivoy received a Therapy Dog title. Every Tuesday morning, he brought joy to the residents in a retirement home. In the afternoon he made the rounds to enrich the lives of residents in the assisted living facility. Once a month he shared his beauty and love with the children at Main Street Library's "Read To The Dog" program.

Of course, most all of you are my love, companion and champion of my heart! Life will not be the same without him. The pain of losing you is great, but your memories and my love for you will be forever in my heart.
