Tommie Thumbelina (Tom Thumb) of the Suggs and Kelly Feral Colony
Spring, 2020 – December 5, 2023
The Suggs and Kelly Feral Colony lost one of its beloved members, Tommie Thumbelina (Tom Thumb), on December 5, 2023, to complications of Feline Leukemia. She was 3 years old.
Thumbelina was preceded in death by several members of the Suggs and Kelly Feral Colony as well as her caretaker, Karen. She leaves behind her Mother, Hissy Mama, her brother, Suggs (of Cayce House of Cats), her sisters Gumby and Earnestine (of the Colony), and other members of the Colony – Cinder, Fairfield, Grizzly Adams, Hobo, and Spitfire - as well as her broken-hearted Caretakers, Tom, Stoney, and Valerie.
Thumbelina was originally named “Tom Thumb” because of the pattern on her forehead that looked like a thumbprint. The name stuck and we quite forgot that “he” was really a “she” until we took her to the vet a few days ago.
She would usually be the first to greet us as we arrived to feed the Colony each day. She was a very patient girl – always posing for pictures before she was fed. Her greatest claim to fame was the day we found her munching on a squirrel at her feeding station. She was the great huntress – striking fear into the hearts of squirrels for blocks around!
Thumbelina – our hearts are broken that you are gone. You brought out the best in us all and we know you are very grateful for us helping you in these last difficult days. Caretaker Tom loves you and knows you are safe and do not have to suffer any more. He will have the wet food for you that you like so much when he sees you again in the not-so-distant future.
We love you, sweetie, and we miss you greeting us at the Colony – but we know that Ernie, Bindle, Mama Kitty, and the other Colony members are taking care of you on the other side of the Bridge…
…With love from your Caretakers - Stoney, Tom, and Valerie
