Spencer, the most charismatic and spirited Gamecock puppy of Columbia, SC, has taken his final bow-wow on December 5, 2023. Born on July 5, 2011, Spencer spent his puppyhood mastering the art of barking, a skill he flaunted until his last days in the town of Irmo, SC. He was a canine extraordinaire, a philosopher of the woof, and an aficionado of all things chicken & bacon.
The Wagner family—Robert, Kathryn, and Rachel—were the family who basked in Spencer's intelligent & loving presence. We fondly remember him as our family member who never missed an opportunity to express his opinions on yellow cars, squirrels, and the mysterious art of chewing on the back gate. Spencer's educational journey was an unconventional one, with a self-declared major in barking on the back deck of his house. His enthusiasm for vocal exercises was unmatched, and he graduated summa cum laude in being the life of the party.
When it came to his career, Spencer was a dedicated watchdog, a role he took seriously—well, until he decided that strangers were just friends he hadn't sniffed yet. His work ethic was impeccable; he believed that every visitor deserved a grand announcement, and he provided it with a tail-wagging fanfare. Spencer's policy was simple: bark first, then want his paw to be rubbed later.
In his twelve years, Spencer taught us all to seize the day—or the bacon, as he would argue. He never let a day go by without a bark, a playful romp, or a loving nuzzle. His legacy is one of joy, laughter, and the reminder to live every day as if it's the best day ever, especially when he was riding in the golf cart at the beach.
As we bid farewell to Spencer, we remember a dog who was more than a pet; he was a dynamo on four legs, a furry bundle of love, and a loyal friend. His spirit will forever serve as a reminder to love unabashedly, to bark at life's oddities, and to always, always chase after what makes you happy
Goodbye to our sweet puppy, may your journey across the Rainbow Bridge be filled with endless treats, joyous barking, and peace until we hold you again in a better time and in a better place....until then we know you were, without a doubt, the best boy. Spencer, you were the our 'Bubbe Puppy'. We miss you so very much.
