Dabi Power

Dabi Power, a spirited, gentle, and loving kitty, was born in July 2017 in Clinton, SC, and cared for as a baby by the fine folks at Laurens County Humane Society. She was adopted from LCHS by her fur parents, and once she was old enough, she was off to her forever home in Cayce, SC. She passed away peacefully on May 13, 2023, after a courageous battle with lymphoma. Dabi, as she was affectionately known, brought joy, laughter, and love to her fur parents, Chris and Robert Power. She is survived by her feline sister, Scarlett, and was preceded in death by feline sisters Josie and Claire.

Dabi was a ray of sunshine in the lives of her family, warming their hearts with her presence, just as she warmed her own little body by sunbathing on her window perches while watching the birds and squirrels, or anxiously awaiting Mom's or Dad's car to pull into the driveway when they were away. She was a true southern girl, delighting in the flavors of boiled peanuts, corn on the cob, green vegetables, and an occasional potato chip. Dabi also found great joy in assisting her parents with the task of putting fresh sheets on their bed. Her nimble paws danced across the linens as she transformed an ordinary chore into a delightful game. Her infectious enthusiasm and boundless energy brightened even the most mundane moments.

As we celebrate Dabi's life, we are reminded of the words from the Bible, "A righteous man regards the life of his animal" (Proverbs 12:10). Dabi's life was a testament to her family's love and care, and her passing leaves a void that will be felt deeply. In the quiet moments of reflection, Dabi's family can take solace in the words of St. Francis of Assisi, who once said, "All the darkness in the world cannot extinguish the light of a single candle." Dabi's light will continue to shine in the hearts and memories of her loved ones, a beacon of love and joy that will never be extinguished.
