Bubbles Anderson/Truett

Prior to 2010 – November 29, 2022

Bubbles Anderson/Truett, the oldest female resident of the City of Cayce House of Cats, passed of natural causes, at home, on November 29, 2022, with Papa Stoney at her side. She was approximately 14 years old.

In the Spring of 2010, as we were feeding the State Museum feral colony, we heard meowing in the vicinity. It is not the norm for ferals to meow (unless they are really hungry or are having a heated discussion over something) so we canvassed the area and found a grey tabby cat up a tree. She seemed to be OK – so we put food down for her and moved on. We saw her every day, meowing, either in the tree or close to it. We finally realized she was trying to adopt us! When we dumb hoomanz caught on to what she wanted, we put her in a carrier and off we go to the vet! After a clean bill of health (and an age estimate of 2 years), she joined Cayce House of Cats. She was named after an opera star of the era, Beverly “Bubbles” Sills, in honor of her singing ability.

Bubbles was a very laid-back girl – tho in her last years she loved to trot around with “prey” (either a stuffed fish or other catnip toy) – meowing the whole time (“mrroowwpppfffttt…mrroowwpppfffttt”). She was always around – especially at feeding time. We will miss our girl sitting on the countertop waiting on her dinner.

A special thank you goes out to her housemates - GreyGrey, MacMac, and Tart – who graciously allowed Bubbles to share their rooms during her last few days.

Bubbles – you are the first cat to have adopted us – instead of the other way around. Papa Stoney and Mama Valerie love you so very much and will miss watching you devour those packages of Fancy Feast Broths (well – except for the sardines…).

Enjoy your journey across the Bridge. We will see you soon, sweet girl…
