Black & White Mama Kitty Suggs & Kelly

The Suggs & Kelly feral cat colony lost their matriarch, Black & White Mama, on April 22, 2022. She was a tragic victim of HBC on Huger Street in downtown Columbia, SC. She was approximately 4 years old.
B&W Mama ("Ma!") was a reserved and noble girl. She would arrive at the Colony via her own route and would leave via her own route. She always waited for the rest of the Colony to have their meal before she helped herself. She was happy and stable in her environment and would not have been content living with "hoomanz".
She accomplished the important work she was sent into the world to do - bringing forth her six 'miracle' kittens who not only survived, but also found wonderful homes. She leaves behind her son, Chewy (adopted by Chad Henderson and Bonnie Boiter-Jolley), a daughter, Misifus (adopted by Luis Marica), 2 additional daughters, Adalyn Austin and Evalyn Jane (adopted by Sharon and Ivan Baughman), a third son and daughter, Yogi Bear and BooBoo Bear (adopted by Stoney Truett and Valerie Anderson), and the residents of the Suggs & Kelly Feral Colony.
Mama - your caretakers are crushed that you have been taken from us. We live each day taking nothing for granted and are thankful when we see you and the other Colony residents as we come to feed. But we also recognize that there is the always-present possibility of this exact thing happening. While it's obviously very hard for us to accept that this can easily happen, we know that life on the streets is even harder for you and the other beautiful creatures who we try to help. What would you and the others do if we let the pain of events like this discourage us? So, we keep on doing what we can do and hope for the best...

"May you continue your journey in peace and ease, safe and protected from harm, and may our loving thoughts of you help us also to reflect on our deep kinship with all living creatures and our bond of covenant with all of them."
